Sixth Form students at Sidcot have numerous opportunities to challenge themselves academically, enabling them to further their learning, serve as ambassadors for their chosen subjects and the School, and be role models to fellow students.
Lead Learner Programme
In the Sixth Form, students can become Captains in their chosen subjects. They can nominate themselves to be Captains in up to two subjects. If selected, they will meet with a Subject Mentor, an expert in their field, twice a term. They will also participate in enrichment tasks, competitions, and conferences, present in subject-specific assemblies, and mentor younger students.
ASPIRE Programme
The ASPIRE Programme, designed for students who are exceptionally competent in their chosen subject, offers a range of benefits. Students receive specialist Careers and UCAS support during the termly ASPIRE meetings and participate in events to support applications to more academic and competitive higher education institutions, such as Oxbridge.
In Year 13, ASPIRE students benefit from a range of opportunities. They receive presentations from external speakers, guidance, and work experience opportunities from our diverse network of Sidcotians, and they attend renowned events, such as the Thriving Minds Stretch and Challenge conference at Oxford University.
They also play a crucial role in the ASPIRE Programme by mentoring Year 12 ASPIRE students and providing valuable advice as they navigate their A Level, IB Diploma, or BTEC studies and make their higher education choices.
