Newcombe House is a beautiful stone building, built in 1912 and refurbished in 2024. It is situated behind the Equestrian Centre, next to the Forest School, and surrounded by fields.
After joining Sidcot in 2017, Rosie Sisson took up the post of Housemistress of Newcombe this year. Rosie trained in London as an English and Drama Teacher in 1995 and later taught EAL in London and abroad. Rosie is also Head of Third Form and places student well-being and safety at the heart of her practice. She is part of the school's Learning Support Department.
"I am so excited to be taking up this role. It is a huge privilege to be entrusted with the welfare of other people’s children and I will put my heart and soul into the task.
I came to Sidcot in 2017 and fell in love with the Quaker ethos and the sense of community in all aspects of school life. My aim for Newcombe is that it encourages the students who come into our care to work as a team irrespective of their interests, strengths or cultural heritage so that we can be a supportive and caring community together.
On top of this, I want the students to be able to relax and have fun in the house. I loved being in an all-girls boarding house when I was a student and the friendships I fostered there have lasted me to this day. I want the same experience for all the girls who stay with us."
