Let's Talk about Relationships – parental engagement event

Dear Parents/Guardians

Next half term students in the Senior School will spend the whole half term covering Relationships, Health and Sex Education during our weekly PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, Economic) Education. To kick off discussing and learning about these important topics we are inviting Amy Forbes-Robertson from ithappens.education to come and speak to our students on Tuesday 5 November about applying Relationship and Sex Education in real life and making positive choices. Topics such as Self Esteem and the media, Sexting and sharing, Consent, LGBT, and Positive Relationships and Love will be presented to our students throughout the day. In the evening at 6.30pm, we invite parents and guardians to come and join us for a talk and discussion on current trends in behaviours, preparing parents and teachers for the statutory teaching of Relationships, Health and Sex Education in senior schools, as well as revisit the content delivered to students in the day. Up to date information on Relationship and Sex Education topics as well as useful tips for discussing sensitive issues will be provided.

I will also be available on the evening to explain in more detail the upcoming Relationships, Health and Sex Education Programme. The parental talk will take place in the Drama Studio, with tea/coffee available from 6.15pm, ready for a prompt start at 6.30pm. We are looking forward to welcoming you, please RSVP to deborah.meredith@sidcot.org.uk by Monday 4 November.

Kind regards
