Lower Fourth Form Virtual Assembly

We were delighted to hold our first Virtual Assembly on Thursday morning – a first for me! I have held many Assemblies from all sorts of areas around school – and occasionally beyond, but never one from a room in my house!

It was super that all the Lower Fourth joined so promptly and with such good etiquette!

It was really lovely to be able to more publicly applaud our student’s efforts in adjusting to a new way of working – I think that, generally speaking, they have been fantastic at doing so.

I was also able to congratulate some individuals and groups about whom I have heard very positive reports and I think it appropriate to also mention them here.

So… here goes….

Great work in Spanish – mentions for Ollie Yates, Chloe Mead, Daisy Sage, Sam Pilling and Darcy Williams-Wring.

In Maths – Laura Flood commends the efforts made by Lily Holman – marvellous.

For Thriller writing in Deirdre Cattermole’s class – Zak Lloyd, Bea Russe, Talia Hughes and Sophie McNee. Plus – outstanding work from Edith Hogg and Finn Robinson.

From Alison Shurville’s Art group and the Transforming Objects project – Seb Greenwood, Zak Lloyd, Edith Hogg, Jack Ward, Sam Pilling and Rufus Cardale.

And as for groups deserving special mention –

Alison Knapman’s Tutor group – who have been really supportive of each other – I love that – always important but perhaps especially so at this time!

Thomas Weidner’s German group who have had the best ever live game battle!

Jake Resuggan’s English group who are doing lots of fantastic reading and are keeping their reading skills sharp!

And, finally, for Dave Hewer and Charlotte Resuggan’s Drama groups who are showing great creativity and imagination in their lessons.

All totally fabulous – well done to all.

Our key focus in our Assembly was a kahoot quiz about our school…. What did students know? It was uber exciting! And all rather close… - but the results -

3rd place – Henry Garrett

2nd place – Harriet Blair

The WINNER – Beth Townsend – Great work and knowledge.

We finished up reminding our students about the importance of looking after themselves and others, pointing them towards our ‘Well-being’ challenges and, of course (from me) reiterating the importance of some activity and exercise!

I look forward to the next one!
