OXFAM Second Hand September

This initiative is trying to educate and inspire people to cut back on their clothes buying addictions, as the environmental cost of manufacturing these products is devastating our planet. The textiles industry produces more pollution than the aviation and shipping industries combined.

“Sustainable fashion is a growing movement that’s changing how we make, buy and reuse our clothes for good.”

In conjunction with this program, the Centre for Peace & Global Studies is going to be running our own 'Second Hand' event throughout the week of the 24th until the 27th of September.

This means that during break times and Wednesday lunch time we will be offering students, staff and parents the opportunity to get some fresh clothes for the price of donating your own. We will also be attending the Parents coffee morning on Friday, from 8.30 am until 10 am.

We shall be collecting clothes from the 9th until the 20th of September.

We will take all sizes of donations, all we ask is that they are clean (freshly washed) and wearable, so nothing too tatty or stained would be great. Donations should be made to Lorcan Reed, located in the Sports Hall Foyer or placed in the clear plastic boxes outside the Outdoor Learning office (Please use the sign-up sheet to show how many items you have donated).

We will be setting up our ‘Second Hand’ stall within the HUB where students and staff will be able to obtain/swap second hand clothes after they have donated an item. Alternatively, charitable donations can be made for acquiring items.
