Ryan studied a BA (Hons) in Sports Business Management at the University West of England. Pre university, he travelled to New Zealand to undertake an internship at one of the leading rugby academies in New Zealand, Inside Running Academy. After six months in New Zealand, Ryan returned to the UK and worked as a rugby recruitment agent for Inside Running assisting rugby players with overseas playing opportunities.
Since New Zealand, Ryan has gained valuable experience in coaching rugby at the University of Bristol alongside stepping up the ladder in the rugby recruitment industry.
Originating from South Africa, Ryan made the move over to the UK as soon as he finished school and the first post he held in the UK was a GAP Year Student at a independent school in Suffolk, St Felix School. This opportunity gave him the experience of working within a boarding and sporting environment which has driven him to take on his current role here at Sidcot.
Growing up in South Africa, sport played a big role in Ryan’s childhood. He grew up playing all sports but his personal achievements were playing rugby at 1st XV schoolboy level alongside playing cricket at provincial level.
Ryan is very much a family man, spending time with his wife enjoying the outdoors camping and his two very much active working cocker spaniel dogs. He has recently taken a keen interest in running and has recently completed his first marathon and his first triathlon.
