Ariel Atom Technology Faculty Trip
Loaded into every seat of the minibus, 17 Sidcot thrill seekers headed off to visit one of Somerset’s best kept secrets; the manufacturing plant of the ‘Ariel Atom’ in Crewkerne. It is not often that I find myself whole heartedly agreeing with Jeremy Clarkson, however when he described the Atom as one of the most beautiful cars in the world, I have to say that after viewing them close up and personal, he was right!
It is the quality and ingenuity of the engineering that impresses the onlooker the most, in an almost breathtaking way. Treated to an informative tour by one of the Ariel company family owners, who have reborn this old British mark, the students were able to experience the care that goes into assembling the cars and creating such desirable detail.
Inevitably, everyone wanted one, not only the cars but the all terrain vehicles and gorgeous motorbikes as well.
We argued about colour choice, but not about the fact that come the lottery win we would all definitely have one: when is the next rollover?
