The Cashmore Poetry Competition 2017
On Thursday 4th May, 37 students from Years 5 and 6, Third Form and Fourth Form, competed in the Cashmore Poetry Competition showing off their creativity in French, Spanish and German. The event started with four poems read by native speakers in Italian, French, Spanish and German and we were all pleased to hear lovely poems chosen and one even written by our students.
The competition went smoothly – firstly with the recitation of the French poem “La pendule” by Juniors and then with the performances of our Senior pupils. Sidcot students demonstrated not only to be creative, but also to be good communicators and internationally minded enquirers.
Well done to our winners in Third Form: TomTom Lloyd, Bethan Kolind and Guy Owen; in Lower Fourth: Sophia Cuckson, Lily Arnold and Sara Peel; in Upper Fourth: Ruby Cogan, Sarah Carr and Lucy Zeeman, Essa Diallo, Verity Mann. We were all impressed by the quality of poems and judges did not find easy to deliberate who won!
Special thanks to the hard working MFL teachers, to all parents, guardians and heads of school, staff and students who attended and supported the competitors, to housekeeping, Sixth formers and Year 11 Pathway for their contribution in the organisation of the event. And of course, thanks to all students who took part with their enthusiasm.
All’anno prossimo!
