We were thrilled to receive news of Year 6 student Saskia's gold medal win at the Dance World Cup in Braga, Portugal!
The Dance World Cup is the largest dance competition of its kind with over 7500 dancers from 50 countries. Saskia qualified for two ballet solos, one duet, and five groups; a significant achievement on its own!
Saskia performed her duet, called Treason, early on in the competition in the children's showdance section, achieving a 1st place gold medal alongside her partner with a whopping 93.8%! This is a truly impressive achievement for Saskia, particularly considering she was one of the youngest competitors within this section.
In addition to her gold medal, Saskia also placed 6th, 7th and 8th with her groups out of 50 other entrants. Her teammates also achieved an additional gold medal and three silver medals - congratulations to the whole dance school for this outstanding performance!
Saskia hopes to qualify again in 2024, and we're looking forward to seeing how she progresses with her dance over the next year.
