DofE Report

It has been a busy and successful term for DofE with four successful expeditions completed. The Lower Fifth have done training and final expeditions in the Quantocks and Exmoor and on both occasions were lucky with the weather. Of the 40 students who have now completed the expedition section, ten have also completed the Bronze award which is an excellent achievement. The other pupils should enter the evidence for the Volunteering, Physical Recreation and Skill section so that their certificates can be awarded.

The Pathway group have been doing Bronze this year and eight of them have completed the award after doing successful expeditions in the Quantocks and Exmoor. For volunteering they have cleared undergrowth on the school grounds and their cultural programme covers the skill section. Thanks to James Milne who has guided them through the programme.

Sixth Form exams have dominated the term, but we managed to squeeze in an expedition for them in the Black Mountains. There are two Gold groups this year and they did a demanding practice expedition over three days. At the same time three groups did the assessed Silver expedition and they can now get the Silver signed off so that it can be included in their university application.
