Drama & Theatre Studies: A Level Practical Exam
We were very fortunate this week to have a Sixth Form devising workshop, led by Theatre Director Rich Rusk, in readiness for the A Level practical exam.
Rich has been working across the UK, Europe, South America and Asia as a deviser for 15 years. He has been an Associate Director of Gecko since 2008, although he would never tell you he has created 35 five-star Edinburgh Fringe productions over 15 festivals and been nominated for the Total Theatre Award five times. Last month he arrived back in the UK having devised and directed The Dreamer in Shanghai, which has received rave reviews and was created as part of the British Council’s 2016 Shakespeare Lives programme, commemorating the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.
The students worked through several Gecko styled exercises in the workshop and then showed Rich their pieces so far. Each group received invaluable feedback from Rich which I have no doubt will enhance their final performance piece.
If you would like to join us to watch the developed devised pieces, please come to the Drama Studio on Wednesday 13th December from 6.50pm. The performances will begin promptly at 7.00pm. Open to parents and students in Upper Fifth and above.
