Duke of Edinburgh's Award
Sunday 28 February
Forty Lower Sixth, Upper Fifth and Pathway students enjoyed a day of expedition training in which the focus was on preparation for our Summer expeditions. We started in the classroom and discussed the kit needed for the expeditions and then planned the routes. After discussing suitable light and nutritious food we used the stoves to make a hot drink. It was then into the minibuses to be taken to the drop off points in the Cheddar Gorge and Blackdown areas. The weather was bright with a chilly wind and all of the groups found their way back to school in good time.
These students are preparing for the Silver award and the dates of the three-day expeditions are: 15 to 17 April and 17 to 19 June. Two successful expeditions are needed to complete the award and for those who only do one expedition in the Summer term there will be a trip in September.
Students in the Upper Fifth who will be leaving Sidcot in June are welcome to join either of the Summer term expeditions.
