The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Diamond Anniversary
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award has been in operation for 60 years and to celebrate the occasion, an award ceremony was organised in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.
Former Head Girls of Sidcot School, Gaby House from Bleadon and Helena Ring from Munich, Germany, (2013 – 2014 and 2014 – 2015 respectively), were presented with Gold awards. Jim Scott, Sidcot's DofE Manager, and Iain Kilpatrick, Headmaster, were also in attendance to receive a plaque marking the School’s long-standing association with the award scheme. Jim has dedicated more than a quarter of a century to supporting children with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
The Duke of Edinburgh, who has been patron throughout the 60 years, was present and accompanied by The Earl and Countess of Wessex.
The sun shone and bands played making it a memorable afternoon.
