On Saturday 18 January we all met again to continue our project to build the new observatory. Despite the miserable weather our spirits were high and much progress was made. To ensure that the frame was radially symmetrical, thin wooden batons had been temporarily put in place. This method proved to be very accurate when we came to offer up the dome to the framework we had built.
It was a wonderful moment when the iconic white dome was temporarily put in place. We all stood and realised how much nearer we were to finishing and how much the new observatory was taking shape. Now that the frame has been fully erected, it is ready to be clad with a double skin of plywood and cedar. The end is in sight!
