Hundred up for DofE

Hundred up for DofE

2017 has been a record breaking year for DofE at Sidcot. In 2016 we celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of the award scheme by achieving a record 60 awards, this year we have surpassed that total with 100 awards completed. Lower sixth student Lucy Slingsby was the one hundredth award completing a tally of 8 Gold, 31 Silver and 61 Bronze. Congratulations to all the students who have completed awards and thanks to all the staff who have supported them.

As well as the expedition, students do sections on Physical Recreation, Skill and Volunteering. At a recent meeting of DofE Managers, Jim Scott was presented with a certificate celebrating the completion of 1976 hours of service by Sidcot students over the last year.

It has been a busy term with a Gold expedition in the Brecon Beacons and two Silver expeditions to Exmoors. In Lower Fifth, 43 pupils have enrolled and done their first training day. Next term there will be training days for Gold and L5 Bronze.
