Iyengar Yoga

Iyengar Yoga

The Iyengar Yoga option for the Sixth Form games afternoon has been a great success this term with the groups before and after the half term break both making visible progress in developing their understanding of the asanas (poses). Less obvious to the eye will be the increase in suppleness, strength and stamina, improved posture and concentration and the quietening of the mind which comes with regular practice.

Yoga became popular in the West in large part through the teaching of B.K.S. Iyengar and his method of learning yoga is now the most widely practised worldwide. At the end of 2016 I am privileged to be travelling to India, joining with other yoga students from all over the world, to study for three weeks at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune.
