Sidcot Equestrian Team – National Schools Show Jumping 29th May
The Sidcot equestrian team of Henry Blair, Sophie Lee (J6), Erin Crofts, Lottie Gunter (Yr. 7) and Jess Browning (Yr. 10) journeyed to West Wilts Equestrian Centre, in Holt, Nr Trowbridge on the 29th May for a National Schools show jumping competition.
The first class was in the indoor arena, and all 4 riders (Erin, Henry, Sophie and Lottie) rode lovely rounds, gaining them 3 clear round, which combined with particularly fast rounds from Erin with Rosco and Lottie with Rohan put them into a very respectable 5th place overall in what was a hotly contested class.
Next the team moved on to the outdoor arena for the second class of the day which was bigger and much more technical, unfortunately there were a couple of unlucky poles knocked which put them out of the running for prizes.
All riders rode beautiful rounds in what was a very large class (over 160 starters) and once again represented the school with pride.
Jess Browning and Wendle had a lovely clear round in the 90cm class and all was going well in the 1m class until a very unlucky pole dropped on the last fence giving them 4 faults.
The team are looking forward to the next competition in a couple of weeks’ time where they will be aiming to qualify for the National Championships in October.
