Schools Modern Pentathlon Biathlon Championships at Crystal Palace 19 and 20 March

Several of Sidcot's students travelled to London on the first weekend of the holidays to participate in the schools national biathlon championships which they had qualified for earlier in the year at Millfield school.

Adam Lyall, Amber Spillane and Sarah Carr competed in the U13 category, Lilly Arnold in the U12 and her sister Stella in the U10. All sections were hotly contested with some gutsy performances being made both in the pool and on the track. Stella's track times improved by 20 secs enabling her to achieve a top 40 position in a large field of over 100 participants, which was an improvement of 5 places on the ranking lists. Lily similarly improved her run time and was positioned in the top half of her class of 120, an improvement of 48 places on the ranking list. Adam achieved a faster time in the pool than in October but his running was not quite as fast, he still managed to raise 30 places up the ranking list. Sarah gained over 1000 points in both her swim and run which gave her 45th position, 5 places higher on the ranking list than earlier in the year. Amber swam well in the pool and then knocked another 7 seconds off her best run to achieve a top 20 position and a jump of 18 places on the ranking list which was a fantastic achievement.

These excellent results are a culmination of many months of hard work in the pool and on the field for these students, which we congratulate them on, as well as thanking their parents
for their continued support.
