Special GCSE PE Revision Session led by Kirk Bizley
Kirk has been involved in all aspects of the teaching and learning of GCSE PE for over 30 years. He has taught the course and has marked, moderated and set many exam papers as the Chief Examiner for the exam board AQA. He presents at conferences and regularly leads school-based workshops for students helping them to achieve better grades. He is a Chartered Educational Assessor and a very experienced author. He brings this wealth of experience to bear on this new edition of his market-leading series. The session was remarkably successful.
Our GCSE PE students gave up their Games afternoon to get quality advice and insight into GCSE exam technique and were provided with clear next steps. As Kirk said, our GCSE PE 'FA CupFinal' is on 19th May when they sit the final exam and the next month is a chance to refine and tweak their performance.
Some key messages from Kirk were:
- Learn key definitions.
- Remember the 'exam rules' and what the examiner will be looking for.
- Get highlighter pens to indicate the 'Question Stem' and 'Command Words'.
- Use the 'Revision Aid' that was provided today to recognise areas that need work and ask for help.
- Practice exam questions then use the mark scheme to check your own answers.
We look forward to a successful month.
