Week Ending Friday 2nd March

Successful weekend of boys sport!

Sidcot had a full and brilliant weekend of boys sport with players representing the school from across the year groups.

U12, U13 & U14 Boys' Hockey v Stonar School (away)

Saturday morning saw a keen and excited group of boys travel to Stonar School for the first Boys Hockey match. Unfortunately due to a frozen astro turf we decided to play indoor hockey. In in both games Sidcot started tentatively and conceded goals but as our confidence grew so did our game play. All players got stuck in and performed admirably giving the Stonar boys a really good game. Guy Owen even faced a penalty flick! The success of this event has led us to planning more for the boys hockey in the future. Well done lads!

U14 Boys' Football v Wycliffe College (home)

The weather still playing havoc with fixtures, this Wycliffe team ended up travelling to Sidcot due to frozen pitches and the boys, managed by Alfie Cunningham battled well and played great football ending in a 3-3 draw. With some fantastic second half performances from Henry Hawkins, Theo Parker-Mills and Eugene Zaitsev. As the term continues this side's performances go from strength to strength.

U15/U16 Boys' Football v Wycliffe College (away)

The older boys travelled to Wycliffe to play on the only pitch they had available and again we witnessed a strong a gutsy performance. Coming back from 2-0 down the lads finally registered a 4-6 win. Remarkable performance away from home.

U16 Boys' Rugby 7s West of England Tournament @ Taunton School

On Sunday we had our Everest. Eight Fifth Form boys travelled to Taunton School to play in the West of England 7s tournament against some of the best 7s schools in the south west. Although we found it tough, the lad performed very admirably showing real determination coming together in a cohesive team. It is always a very heartening moment when one of your players says: "we are learning so much today sir" – which they did. At half time v Bundell's School we were winning and we scored some well worked tries against BGS – see the footage!

Our final game of five when the lads were all fatigued, we put out our best performance against Plymouth College ending in a pleasing 26 all draw. Player of the tournament was Rafiq Aliasgarov.
