Success for Sidcot Lyricists
Last Saturday saw the final round of St James' Church, Winscombe's search for a new Christmas carol.Earlier this term, our Third Form students were tasked with writing new festive lyrics to an old tune. These were then submitted to St James' Church. From all the entries received, four of our students' lyrics were selected to be performed by St James' Choir in the final at the church - Jamie O'Driscoll, Frederick Baldwin, Eleni Kyriacou and Jack Cope-Lewis.
After much deliberation and examination of scansion, the panel of distinguished judges decided to award first place to Jack Cope-Lewis for his energetic carol 'It's Snowing' performed to the tune of 'Good Morning' from Singing in the Rain. The choir will perform 'Its Snowing' at their carol service on 17th December.
Congratulations to Jack and to all those who participated.
