Trashion 2017
On Wednesday, students from Third and Fourth Form took part in the House competition – Trashion.
The challenge was for each House to create 10 garments using only recyclable and unwanted material. Each garment then had to be modelled down the catwalk.
As students worked quickly to create shredded paper skirts, bin liner dresses, cardboard hats and bubble wrap bracelets, the judges awarded points for teamwork and collaboration. One of the judges commented: "It is really great to see the students engaged, they’re all very focused and very busy."
After just 25 minutes, the models, adorned with paper and plastic, made their way down the catwalk and the judges awarded points for 'innovation and practicality' for each garment. Head judge and Head of of Technology Faculty Tom Ruddle said: "I was quite surprised to see what they came up with in just 25 minutes – very impressive."
The overall winner was East House, though a special mention must go out to Ana de la Torre and friends from South House for creating a beautiful wedding dress out of bubble wrap, lilac plastic bags and newspaper.
