Staff CPD with Professor Guy Claxton
The week for staff started with in-service training, which on this occasion was led by Professor Guy Claxton (below).
Professor Claxton is a world-renowned educationist who has developed the concept of learning power. This links skills and attributes to knowledge in order to enable students to maximise their potential at school and leave with the curiosity and perseverance to be successful beyond.
All of us present – including a group of senior students who joined the group – felt privileged to have shared Professor Claxton’s insights. He laid down a challenge to us to really embrace our motto to ‘live adventurously’ as much in the classroom as outside and equip our students with the confidence and strength of character to make a difference in a complex and complicated world. An excellent call to action for what promises to be a busy and productive term!
