Academic Scholars Presentation Evening

At Sidcot, we have a grand tradition of public speaking which is notably celebrated in our Dymond Speech Competition at the end of the Summer Term. However, this competition is reserved for our older students, so this year a secondary competition was introduced to allow our younger scholars an opportunity to demonstrate their oratory prowess.

In the final term, our Year 7 to Year 9 Academic Scholars chose their own topics to research and present on, delivering their speeches to a panel of judges and audience of parents and staff in the Drama Studio. taking questions from the floor following their speeches.

The topics chosen were as follows:

Jacob: The Risks Of Skiing
Hector: Is Artificial Intelligence Use Immoral?
Nerissa: Endangered Species
Samuel: How Can Solar Energy Help Those In Need?
Eleanor: Is Graffiti Art?

Well done to all of the Scholars who presented extremely eloquently and most particularly, dealt so well with the questions asked from the floor. We know there are future Dymond Speech finalists among them! A particular congratulations to Jacob who was awarded winner of the competition.
