Finally a break in the weather, and just as well as the Kingswood School fields are atop of the infamous Lansdown. Well known for its awful windy and wet weather we were blessed with still air, clear skies and sunshine, but chilly nonetheless. This has been written before the formal result had been issued.
The first group to run was our Senior Boys in a very very strong field of runners from across the county. Will Lloyd and Beau Noya both ran with smiles on their faces and attributed themselves brilliantly. Will was Chuffed to bits that he ran a great time according to Strava on his phone (he was carrying all the way around!
The Third Form girls set off next with Summer Adams and Esther Wring starting really strongly and keeping close to the pace of the race. It was unfortunate that Summer, feeling unwell but running anyway, started to fade towards the end of a valiant effort, and Esther coming through in the top 15.
Tali Hughes, our recent arrival from Churchill School, ran in the Junior Girls race (Fourth Form) as a year young runner and really stormed the field again finishing in the top 15 and running with real style too.
Finally Will Sandiford took his turn to run in an increasingly colder weather and a long course that pushed him and the runners to the limit. But he was impressive and stayed close to the front for the majority of the race until a group broke away leaving him to work hard for his top 15 spot.
We are all really proud of our runners – the effort and commitment they show to be representative for Sidcot and North Somerset is outstanding and we hope they continue running!
Well done you guys!
