British Show Jumping for Schools Competition

British Show Jumping for Schools Competition

The weekend of 15th September Team Sidcot took part in their first ever British Show Jumping for Schools competition held at Kingsedgmoor.

The School was represented by two junior school riders Mimi Woodliffe and Harriet Blair who jumped alongside the senior school riders Erin Crofts, Tom Lee Henry Blair, Sophie Lee and Lottie Gunter.

Three classes were entered on the day, the 70cm-75cm, 80cm-85cm and 90-95cm. All three teams were in the prizes with each Sidcot team securing third place. Not a bad start to Sidcot’s  British Show jumping campaign. Well done to all the riders who rode so well around technical courses.

Last weekend four riders and pony pairs represented Sidcot at the NSEA Senior Inter-Schools One Day Event held at Stonar School. Sophie Lee on Declan competed in the 70cm class, and Yasmin Sluijmers on Charlie competed in to 80cm class. Evie Puddy on Hortons Glen and Caoimhe Collery on Harper Seven competed in the 90cm class.

With the rain from earlier in the week giving way to beautiful sunshine, the scene was set for a great weekend. Sophie and Declan rode beautifully to end up placing 5th in their section. Yasmin and Charlie jumped a double clear in the show jumping and XC just putting them out of the ribbons.

On the Sunday, Evie and Nortons Glen tackled the difficult courses and rode extremely well. Caoimhe and Harper Seven rode a fabulous dressage test and were delighted to finish 2nd in the section.

It was a great weekend, with riders, ponies and parents going home pleased.

A brief update from the yard, training is building in momentum as we get closer to the NSEA National championships, the pupils and Horses are working endlessly regardless of the weather to ensure they are well prepared. Next week we will welcome another new horse to the yard and work has commenced to install the shower/ Solarium. Our New Horse and Rider combinations at the stables are working extremely hard preparing themselves for their first British competition so well done to Both Carla Tietjen and Friederieke Holt keep up the great work. BHS training is underway and it’s great to see all pupils being so enthusiastic about getting involved. Our Urchinwood riding students are also working extremely hard and many are now working on their progressive riding tests.

Everyone please save the date 8th December for the Sidcot School Christmas Show jumping Competition to be held at Badgworth arena. Open to all levels of riders both on and off lead rein. There will be a class for everyone!

Finally best of luck to those pupils heading to Bicton this weekend  Archie Stamp, Erin Crofts, Harriet Blair, Lauren Wilkins Caoimhe Collery and Yasmin Sluijmers.
