The sun shone for the J3 and J4 ELAN Mixed Football Tournament this week with over 80 children from nine schools attending this fun sports participation event on the Sidcot School Astroturf. Lee Molland, the PE Premium Sports Manager for the ELAN trust organised the event with Sidcot School not only providing the snacks and refreshments, provided a team of BTEC Sport Students who managed, refereed and supported the children as they played their matches. Everyone agreed that the BTEC students were excellent.
The Sidcot team, who consisted of a group of keen but randomly chosen boys and girls, had a wonderful experience and were able to share success and challenges together as a team. The first two matches were hard fought and we registered losses, but the last two showed how much we grew in confidence, scoring goals and making amazing saves too and resulting in a draw.
The theme of the event was ‘Respect’ which on the pitch saw lots of praise, support of each other and handshakes before and after each game.
Well done to all!
