GCSE Results
Sidcot School students have once again delivered some outstanding GCSE results, improving on the high standards set last year, when the school achieved the best results in North Somerset.
Sidcot saw its students gain a 100% pass rate with 93% of students gaining at least five A* to C grades with an amazing 11% of grades achieved at A* level.
Five students were awarded 10 or more A grades and above, with three students gaining A* Distinction marks for Further Mathematics, putting them amongst the most exceptional students in the country.
Zachary Brannan, (16) from Axbridge achieved an A* Distinction, 4 A*s and 7 As. He said: “I woke up feeling fairly confident and was really pleased when the results came through. I was particularly proud to get the A* Distinction grade for Further Maths.” Zachary will continue his studies at Sidcot by taking the International Baccalaureate Diploma studying Higher Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English, History and German.
Charlotte Boddy, (16) from Barrow Gurney attained 5 A*s and 5 As. Charlotte said: “I was up at 6am nervously waiting for an email to appear but was delighted when it finally came through.” She will also continue her studies at Sidcot with the IB Diploma, planning a career in either Neurobiology, Psychology or as a Peace Keeper.
Bryony Edgell, (16) was understandably delighted with her three A*s and seven As and hopes to pursue a career in healthcare, perhaps as a Psychologist.
Headmaster Iain Kilpatrick was delighted with the results, saying: “In the context of a national decline in the top GCSE grades, it’s particularly pleasing to see the improvements we have achieved this year. While we celebrate these fantastic results, we take equal pride in the knowledge that our students acquire not only their exam passes but also the personal qualities that will help them thrive in the next step of their educational journey.”
