Inter-House Music Competition
Wednesday 24 June saw the arrival of the Inter-House Music Competition, held in the Refectory. This exciting event gave students from across the Senior School the chance to showcase their musical abilities. Eleven acts were selected to perform, representing the four Houses. Acts ranged from singing, playing a whole range of instruments and even a music-tech piece composed by Barney Pittaway, which sounded like we were at a club! The standard of the acts were simply excellent and everyone had a very enjoyable afternoon. Special thanks must be given to Claire Lilley, Alison and Bell David Whiting who kindly agreed to judge the competition. Each act was marked on their stage presence, technicality, ability and style and some fantastic feedback was given from Alison Bell.
The judges kept everyone in suspense whilst they took a while to come to their final decision, but eventually the following line-up was agreed:
1st Place: WEST HOUSE: Sarah Stanley (Year 9) singing ‘Make You Feel My Love’ by Adele, and accompanied by Kit Lear on guitar (pictured).
2nd Place: NORTH HOUSE: Charlie Pittaway (Year 12) playing ‘The Great Train Race’ on the flute.
3rd Place: WEST HOUSE: Kit Lear (Year 8) singing his own song ‘Chasing Time’ with his guitar as an accompaniment.
This was a fantastic achievement for WEST House who gained some much needed house points!
Well done to all the acts who took part, and many thanks to Andy Darvill and his team (Matthew French and Cameron Wride) who provided all the technical assistance for the show.
