Early Years & KS1 Sports Day
The weather was extremely kind to us for our Early Years and KS1 Sports Day at the end of the Summer Term. The students were proud to showcase some of the different activities they have been practising to the fantastic crowd of parents, carers, and loved ones in attendance. Each year group performed all the races, which included sprints and longer-distance runs, egg and spoon races, obstacle courses, and relays.
Our commitment to fostering a 'Personal Best' culture among our pupils is evident when you hear the cheers of children supporting one another. We are passionate about instilling this mindset in every pupil, encouraging them to strive to be their best selves and develop a lifelong love of physical learning. We remind our children that regardless of where they place, they are champions for giving their all. Each personal best is unique, and we celebrate every student's individual achievements and efforts. This certainly played out in the Parent Races, where our children were delighted to cheer on their grown-ups too! Thankfully, no injuries were sustained!
Our thanks to Lee Molland, our Junior School PE Lead, for all his hard work organising the event, to the J6 volunteers who helped with all the races, and to all the PE, teaching, and support staff who have helped behind the scenes. All had a wonderful time!
KS2 Sports Day
On Friday 21 June 2024, our J3, J4, J5, and J6 pupils participated in their annual Sports Day. The morning consisted of field events, and the afternoon events were on the track. Events included: shot put, discus, long jump, high jump, hurdles, and nerf/overarm throw. The children did brilliantly to implement everything they learned in PE lessons this term. After the morning field events, the children had the opportunity to do the 600m race. We were so proud to see so many children participating in this long-distance race! This was followed by a champion lunch on the field and the arrival of parents, ready to cheer on the pupils for the afternoon track events!
The afternoon track events saw each child compete in at least three races, including sprints, 150-meter races, and relay races. We should all be so proud of the way that all children responded to the challenges and activities they faced and of their support for each other, both on the day and in the lead-up to the day.
The events were followed by a presentation and the year group cups were awarded. Well done to the following:
J3: Eliza and Rupert
J4: Abigail and Massimo
J5: Ruby,Minnie and Sonny
J6: Darcy and Bertie
A special well done to our Margaret Spottiswoode Cup Winners, Ruby and Noah. This cup is awarded to two children who have shown the Quaker ethos in Sport throughout the year. We are so proud of how both children inspired their schoolmates to enjoy Sport and compete to be their best. They’ve both had a wonderful year, and I look forward to hearing how they continue to inspire and progress next year.
We also saw several records broken throughout the day. A big well done to the following children who now have their names written in Sidcot sporting history:
J5 Annabelle P – Discus
J6 Bertie S – Discus
J3 Rupert S – Overarm throw/Nerf
J5 Frank E – Discus
J5 Ruby T – Shot Put
J3 Rupert S – 50m sprint

We would like to thank all the teachers, the PE team, the catering team, Year 10 helpers, and the marketing and maintenance teams. This day is a huge operation and could not run without everyone's help. We are so fortunate to have an amazing Junior School team that was just brilliant on the day, as was Matt Lloyd, our Director of Sport at Sidcot. Most of all, thank you to all the parents who came to spectate and the children who all worked extremely hard, doing their very best in every sport, and impressing us all!
