This morning, the Old Library at Sidcot was filled with pride and celebration as students gathered to acknowledge their remarkable achievements in the A Level and BTEC exams. Their dedication and hard work over the past two years have paid off, with many achieving high grades and personal success across all subjects. As a non-selective school, Sidcot is particularly proud that 36% of A Level grades were A* and A, 57% were A*- B and 79% were A* to C. 100% of BTEC students passed, with 33% achieving a Distinction/Merit or above and 89% of results graded above a Merit/Pass. All results achieved are significantly over the national average.
Perhaps most importantly, 100% of our A Level, BTEC and IB students have secured places at their preferred choice of institution in the UK, including universities, specialist schools, and apprenticeships. Their unique interests and talents shine through in the results they have received today and in the diverse destinations they are pursuing next. These include:
Jess, who is delighted to be one of several girls in this year’s cohort pursuing further education in Science, achieving an incredible 3 A*’s and securing a place to study Chemistry at the University of Warwick. Jess commented on her fantastic results:
“Warwick has always been my first choice university, so I’m incredibly pleased with my results. I am going to be studying an integrated Masters in Chemistry, which I couldn’t have achieved without all the support from my subject teachers. I also would like to thank my tutor, Mr Parry, and my progression advisor, Mrs Pike, for all their amazing help throughout the process.”
Student Head of School Jamie received exceptional results of A*, A*, and B and has accepted a place at the University of Cambridge to study History and Politics. Reflecting on his achievement, Jamie said:
“I am thrilled to have achieved the results I needed today to accept my dream offer to study History and Politics at the University of Cambridge. I’m incredibly grateful to all the staff who have taught me over the past 7 years and have helped me get to this stage. A particular thank you to my History and English teachers and to Mrs Pike in Careers, for the support through my A Levels and in applying to university; their encouragement and investment in my success made all the difference.”
House Captain and Quaker Elder Elodie achieved 3 A’s and will study English at the University of York. Elodie said:
“I am delighted with my results today and to have secured a place at my first choice university. My time at Sidcot, specifically the Sixth Form, has boosted my confidence and shown me a clearer picture of the path I want to take. The Careers team and all my teachers have given me invaluable support, and the many offered extracurricular activities like the choirs and Office Holder positions not only gave me a break from academic responsibilities but also helped me see what I’d like to continue further at university.”
Todi, a boarding student from Mongolia, achieved 3 A’s and will study Economics and Finance at Queen Mary University of London. Todi commented:
“I am very pleased with my A Level results having achieved the grades needed for my first choice university. It was not an easy journey, but I am so proud of what I have achieved. After an amazing global boarding experience at Sidcot, I’m thrilled to be continuing my studies in the UK at the Queen Mary University of London.”
Commenting on the results, James Jones, Head, said:
“We are very proud of our students who, today, have received their A Level and BTEC grades, as well as those who received their International Baccalaureate results in July. Their achievements are testament to their hard work over the last two years. They have achieved a high level of success in their public examinations and will follow previous generations of Sidcot students by attending some of the top universities here in the UK and abroad.
Our students’ excellent results will be a foundation for further success in helping them fulfil their ambitions. As important in this journey will be the many other qualities they have developed throughout their time at Sidcot. We are immensely proud of the soft skills our Upper Sixth cohort have developed throughout their time at School; their interpersonal skills, ambition, resilience and strong sense of values will ensure they are ready for university and broader life in the twenty-first century. They will be change-makers and leaders in society and continue to be a credit to their School. I am incredibly grateful to our staff, our parents and everyone who has supported our students throughout their time at Sidcot.”
