Students in Years 8 - 11 studying French were lucky to be treated to an exciting and enjoyable performance by Onatti Theatre Company, called ‘Mon Père ne me comprend pas!’ The performance was entirely in French. The story centred on Hélène who, overcome with frustration and indignation that her father has only given her a pink pencil case and a magic wand for her 15th birthday, makes a wish for a cooler dad, a younger dad, even a drama teacher dad. When these wishes come true, to her astonishment, and she is confronted serially with the said range of fathers, - with hilarious and disturbing consequences - she starts to regret what she had wished for and is delighted to have her ‘normal’ father finally return to her. Highlights of the show included brave and feisty performances from Clara Mann and Oscar Browne. The fact that Oscar does not even study French did not hinder him in any way in sounding uncannily and hilariously Gallic. Congratulations to them both. We look forward to welcoming Onatti for a second performance for Years 3 - 7 in February.
