Nettlecombe Court Geography Field Trip
The Upper Fifth and Lower Sixth have just returned from their field trip to Nettlecombe Court in the Quantocks.
The students were excellent, a real pleasure to work with, despite the weather conditions. U5 students studied a range of fieldwork topics as part of their 'Alternative to Coursework' module. They visited Dunster, Minehead, Dunkery Beacon and Porlock Bay. L6 students studied Taunton and the River Holford.
Will Macarthur said: "This has been extremely useful for my upcoming skills exam."
Fieldwork forms an essential part of geographical studies as it teaches students the processes at first hand. They also get to improve teamwork skills, as well as complete advanced statistical analysis, such as Spearman's Rank.
The department is looking forward to its next residential trip to the Quantocks in May and Iceland in June.
