News from the Equestrian Centre

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for all the Sidcot Equestrian riders. We have had great success in the BSJA league, Dressage and our NSEA County show jumping qualifiers. 2018 will be a busy year as a result. Well done to Carla Tietjen, Elsa Cardale, Lottie Gunter, Mimi Woodliffe, Erin Crofts, Harriet Blair, Archie Stamp, Evie Puddy, Caoimhe Collery and Sophie Lee for flying the Sidcot flag.

As the temperature plummeted last night, the excitement levels rose amongst eleven of our riders, all competing in the Sidcot Equestrian Christmas dressage competition. This competition was open to all of our riders who train weekly at Urchinwood Manor. For many of these riders this was their first attempt at riding a dressage test, so to do so with such confidence was testament to their hard work. A big thank you must go to Sally and all of her team at Urchinwood Manor for facilitating this event and providing the ongoing training to all of the pupils. It was a privilege to watch the pupils ride and to see how their riding skills have developed. A big well done to all of the riders, Luca Cookson, Blanca and Berta Mercadal Sola, Anna Heupl, Tabea Baenisch, Felicia Schurg, Isabela Torres-Septia Urib, Cornelia Chen, Ruzanna Djamalajeva, and Venus Ng.

Friday 8th is the turn of the Sidcot Show Jumping Christmas competition to be held at Badgworth Arena. Open to all so feel free to join in with the festive fun which will start at 4.30pm and will end with plenty of time for you to get back for the Christmas concert.

The temperatures may have dropped but this doesn’t stop our dedicated riders training. Many of you will have noticed the floodlit arena in regular use and it will continue to be so, right up to the end of term. As many of our riders return home for Christmas, their horses will remain on site and will be cared for by our dedicated Equine Staff. Training will take a little break over the Christmas period to allow the horses some down time, but will commence again in January.

Look forward to seeing you all in your Christmas attire and show spirit next week.  Should anyone have any questions relating to the Equestrian Department please drop by the office, the door is always open.
