This gala is now becoming a regular event in the Sidcot sporting calendar, giving our more experienced swimmers the opportunity to pitch their abilities against other competitive swimmers within the cluster of North Somerset Secondary Schools. With many participants meeting their counterparts in a slightly different environment resulted in some very eagerly contested races and enabled many to display their true strength and technique in the pool. Sidcot got off to a flying start with resounding wins in the 4x 25m IM for Immy Moroney and James King in their respective age groups. Older sister Jasmine unfortunately finished a whisker behind her opponent in her 4x 25m IM, but Alex Taylor showed great stamina to win a brilliant 50m butterfly race. Other notable successes came in the form of 2nd place for the Year 7/8 4x 50m freestyle relay, comprising of Will Ford, Oscar Browne, Matthew Fisher and James King.
With so much talent present it was always going to be tough for some of our less experienced swimmers to achieve high ranked places, but to their credit they all put in sterling performances to do themselves proud. This was a great occasion where everyone involved gained valuable experience. Congratulations all round.
