I am writing to inform you that I will be leaving Sidcot at the end of 2023 to take up the position of Executive Headmaster at YK Pao School in Shanghai, China from January 2024.
It has been a great pleasure to serve as Headmaster for what will be over eleven years. The School has grown in size, reputation and confidence, rooted in the rich legacy of its Quaker foundations. I have been privileged to be a part of this journey and to work with some amazing students, parents and colleagues in the process.
I know that the Board of Governors will be working on the appointment of my successor in the new year and will keep you informed. I will be happy to support this as required and ensure a smooth transition when the time comes.
In the meantime, I’m looking forward to leading Sidcot through another successful and productive year. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you happiness over the Festive Season and a peaceful New Year.
Yours sincerely
Iain Kilpatrick
Headmaster
A message from the Chair of Governors
9th January 2023
Following the announcement last term of Iain Kilpatrick’s appointment as Executive Head of YK Pao School effective at year-end 2023, I am writing to inform you of the plans and on-going activities of the Board of Governors to identify and recruit Iain’s successor.
Over the holiday break, we reviewed proposals from several specialist educational search firms and have now engaged the firm of Perrett Laver to assist with the recruitment process. Accordingly, members of their team will be visiting Sidcot in the coming days to gain a comprehensive understanding of the specific requirements and expectations of the Head role with the goal of developing the most effective candidate brief possible. This candidate brief will provide the basis for a broad-based domestic and international search effort.
A Governor Search Committee has also been organised to oversee the search process which, in addition to the extensive resources of Perrett Laver, will utilise all available communication channels and potential candidate sources including those available through the greater Quaker community as well as the educational press.
Given the strengths and exciting future of Sidcot School, the Board is confident that the search process will be successful in identifying and recruiting an individual who will provide sound leadership while respecting and enhancing Sidcot’s very special culture, community and ethos.
In friendship,
Jameson Miller
Chair of the Board of Governors
