On Friday 27 June, six students and two members of staff from Walliscote Primary School, Weston-super-Mare came to Sidcot to have a go with robotics. They were split into four teams, including one staff team, and each given a set of robotic challenges.
First of all, the students had to get the robot to go around a square course (a lot harder than it sounds when programming). Their second challenge was to make the robot move and stop, based on the colour on the floor using a colour sensor. Their final challenge was to make the robots dance. The students were excellent at this; the staff team was okay, just a bit slower!
They completed all the challenges in record time (under 2 hours)! When they arrived they had never programmed anything, and when they left they had completed three difficult challenges.
