Sidcot crowned National Champions
Week one of half term saw our squad of riders, horses, and support crew head to Keysoe for five days of riding at the NSEA championships. To say the weather was unfavourable was an understatement that tested everyone.
Historically, Sidcot has a fantastic equestrian record at the National Championships. You only have to glance at the equestrian newsletters and Instagram page to see how well our riders have done over the years, winning seven National Titles, and this year was no different; with our team of Archie, Hugo, Nelly and Hattie being crowned National Showjumping champions. A huge well done.
We also had success in the 90cm jumping with style competition finishing on the podium with 3rd place. Brilliantly ridden by Archie, Hugo, Ava, and Nelly. Wilf also managed a top 10 placing in the 70cm JWS. A huge achievement at his first National Championships.
Sidcot equestrian prides itself on the fantastic team spirit and that spirit was evident throughout the five days away. Our riders were a credit to themselves and our School. It is always lovely to watch how our riders support each other. This year Sidcot was represented by riders who all had to train hard and compete regularly to even qualify for these championships.
The squad made up of, Wilf, Jemima, Olivia, Ava, Hattie, Nelly, Archie, and Hugo did a sterling job representing Sidcot and were supported as ever by team coach Sophie. A big thank you must go to the traveling support crew all of whom work extremely hard to make sure our riders and horses are turned out impeccably.
The team riders will be back training this week with Sophie preparing for our next qualifiers. Sophie’s track record over the last five years speaks for itself and it will be exciting to see what happens over the next couple of months.
Finally, the equestrian office door is always open for anyone who would like to know more about how to get involved. We have lots of new combinations at the school and we very much look forward to welcoming them into team Sidcot. Training is available every week for those that wish to compete and for those that merely wish to develop their riding skills.
Pop in and say hello to Zoe and the team where you can find out about how you can get involved, or even just to say hello to our school horses. Everyone is welcome!
