Sidcot Golf Day 2018
Saturday 15 September
On one of the rare days the wind does not blow at Burnham and Berrow Golf Club, it is definitely one of the finest experiences a golfer can have and very much justifies its ranking as the 24th best course in the UK.
Last Saturday the Sidcot golfers competing were treated to such an occasion. This helped lift the spirits even higher to an already jolly field.
With one handicapper, Nick Gould, leading the first group out and our PGA Professional, Shane Kaye, in the next group, the bar was set high. However, it was Gould senior with partner Michael Hooper from Lowerf Fifth who set the early pace with an impressive 22 points.
With the whole field enjoying the great conditions, it produced the most competitive Sidcot Golf Day in history. Gary and Gracie Fletcher, Louis Brown (J5) and his Grandad, Connor Andrews (Third Form) and his partner Steve Edwards all returned 22 points. The prize for best pair was won on count back by Michael Hooper and Partner.
The prize for best pupil was just as competitive with Zach Andrews on 18 points piped Louis Brown by a shot.
Gracie Fletcher who was striking the ball beautifully all day collected longest drive and the very steady Colin Hardway was the only golfer to hit the postage stamp 8th to collected nearest the pin.
It was a hugely enjoyable day and I was delighted to see so many young golfers enjoying this wonderful game.
