With little opportunity to meet collectively as a team, Sidcot U18s were very clear from the off that we were to use this tournament as a chance to develop strategy and apply training tactics into game situations.
From the off the boys continued to develop a better understanding on how we wanted to play the fast and enduring sport, whilst showcasing some fantastic but diverse skills and abilities.
After some positional changes and frequent use of the fresh bench, the U18s found themselves in the Vase Winner playoff with Backwell School, after previously beating them in the group stages. Unfortunately, our opponents sealed a deserving win to claim the vase trophy. Nevertheless, Sidcot played with real tenacity and flare throughout the tournament; proving that they have what it takes to implement our idealistic style of play within our performances, when fully fit and entirely committed.
A very pleasing day was had by all, as well as a brilliant warm up for RPN7s.
Special mentions to Jamie Miles, William Lewin and Will Lloyd who played their socks off and showed real fight today! Not only a credit to the school, but created some fantastic scoring opportunities today, simply from having the right attitude and desire to play.
Well done to all involved.
