Avon Indoor Athletics Trials at Bristol Grammar School, Saturday 28 January
A number of our students gained invites to this event off the back of good performances at the various Indoor competitions that have been held recently.
Those that took part – Erin Crofts, Ana de la Torre, Isabella Hoddell and Oscar Byles – all competed well and worked hard in their various chosen events.

The All Avon Sports Hall Athletics Finals
Our Lower Fourth girls did brilliantly to qualify for this event by beating the other schools in North Somerset earlier in the term – a significant feat indeed.
We set off for UWE in high spirits and with great enthusiasm – and what a great day we had. Super endeavour, fabulous teamwork and cheerful approach. All performed well against strong opposition and all should feel well satisfied by their achievements.
Sidcot finished a highly creditable 7th in the County.

U14 Girls Hockey v Churchill Academy, Tuesday 31 January: Sidcot 0 – 1 Churchill
This was a super opener of the season for these girls. Real endeavour and commitment on the pitch – there was determination to win every ball.
The game was very evenly contested and certainly flowed from end to end with both sides creating good opportunities. There was some good defensive play and Miriam Peel, new to the Sidcot goal, made some fabulous saves and clearances.
All remained very balanced well into the second half when Churchill slotted home a late goal which clinched their win.
The Under 14s should, however, feel pleased with this performance. It bodes well for future games.

U15 Netball v Churchill Tuesday 31 January: Sidcot 9 – 16 Churchill
The U15 had a closely-fought game on Tuesday evening in the gloom on the courts at the field. They began very positively and scored the first goal. Churchill then attacked straight back and scored three before Sidcot could score again. The next two quarters were played in a similar vain. Sidcot were a little inconsistent in their attack. There were moments of great movement off the ball followed by some silly passes which lost possession. In the last quarter Sidcot started well with some fast passes and good movement in the circle which resulted in three quick goals being scored. This placed Sidcot within only two goals of Churchill and it looked as though a very close battle was unfolding. Unfortunately Churchill upped the pace of their game and were more successful with their high and deep passes and managed to pull further ahead once again.
It was a very good natured game with both sides showing determination and resilience.
