The Football Season makes a strong start!

Last week saw the start of the football season with an unfortunate postponement for the U15 Football tournament due to the inclement weather.

However, things kicked off (!) on Wednesday 17th with a mixture of Third Form and Lower Fourth travelling to Bristol for a strong match against a tough QEH side.

On Thursday 18th January the U12 and U13 travelled to Clifton High to play under floodlights at Coombe Dingle. Despite the U13s having a tough evening the U12 performed with real heart and passion to narrowly lose in the final minute.

Well done to all of those who were selected and played so well last week

Girls' U15 Netball v Hans Price Academy, Tuesday 23rd January: Sidcot 25-6 HPA

The U15 girls got off to a great start against Hans Price, displaying some great movement and passing which resulted in a convincing win. Well done to all players for playing out of position, and particularly Frankie who got player of the match.

Girls' Weston District Netball v Yatton, Wednesday 24th September: Sidcot 23-41 Yatton

The ladies played tremendously this week in their match against Yatton, who are one of the strongest teams in the league. Sidcot very much matched Yatton in terms of the netball being played, some of the linking play was outstanding. Members of the team gave their very best and I was extremely proud of this. Unfortunately we were just not able to put away our chances and in terms of scoring it was not our night. Huge well done to all the ladies who played, without a doubt their best team performance so far. Player of the match went to Mati Grove.

Please do come along and watch our next match on Wednesday 7th February at 7pm in the Sports Hall.

Boys' Sidcot 1st XI Football v Bristol Cathedral School, Wednesday 24th January: Sidcot 4-3 BCS

The 1st XI made a very encouraging start to the season with an excellent performance against a strong Cathedral side. In a very even first half Sidcot, were by far the more clinical in front of goal; two goals from captain Alex Crofts and one from Sasha Goncharov gave them a 3-0 advantage at the break.

BCS hit back straight after the break, but Sasha Goncharov scored a second goal to keep the advantage. BCS had the better of the final stages, but Sidcot dug in deep to secure victory.
