Students in Lower Fifth and Pathway went on a two-day trip to St Ives, Cornwall, as part of the launch of the GCSE Art course. We stayed in the town hostel close to the harbour where students explored, sketched and took photographs.
Day one of our trip included a visit to Barbara Hepworth’s house, studio and gardens with artist led workshops and a tour of the Tate St Ives.
Day two was spent outdoors on the beaches and in the town. Students created sculptures on the beach and learned about the artists who have taken inspiration from this special place.
Now back in school all this work is being presented in sketchbooks and will become the inspiration for students' own personal work.
