This evening we travelled to our old friends, Clifton High School, to play rugby on the 3G pitch. A full minibus, brimming with excitement and focus, made the short trip into a very cold Bristol as the heavens opened! It was trying conditions but we were treated to a feast of rugby. It was trying conditions but I was treated to a feast of rugby. By far and away the best performance of the year we have seen – real improvements in individual skills and techniques, as well as our shape and organisation as a team. There was a real uplift in confidence that was infectious amongst the players and we saw strong running, positive passing and assertive tackles.
It would remiss of me not to mention some of the players:
- Alex Bryant for his support to the runners and strong running and tackling
- Dylan Fotios and James Robertson Jones – quickly becoming the most improved players
- Louis Hudson – tackling and rucking was awesome earning him the 'Man of Steel' award for the match
- Jonny Lee – captaining the side brilliantly and scoring a brilliant try by running down the line brushing off the defenders
- George Christacos organising the line and ferocious tackling
- Henry Garrett and Finn Painter – a wonderful 9-10 combination, managing the game and keeping the pace moving forward
- Rufus Cardale – his penetrating runs through the defence and the try scored by Ned Noya that was reminiscent of JPR Williams and lit up the team
Well done chaps, you put a smile on my face despite being soaking wet and frozen solid.
