Led by Junior School teacher Christine Gladwin, the West Mendip Orchestra performed in front of a very appreciative audience in the Large Meeting House. Anita Ferguson, Secretary of the Orchestra provided us with the following report:
“The concert last Friday proved a popular programme, with the string players who beautifully complemented the talented soloist/conductor Dennis Simons. His violin performance of Vivaldi’s Winter and ‘Spring’ was much praised on the night. The Vivaldi was followed by an equally praiseworthy performance of ‘Fingal’s Cave’ from Mendelssohn’s Suite ‘The Hebrides’ by the full orchestra and the finale was Mendessohn’s Scottish Symphony ending the concert’s Scottish theme with a dramatic climax.”
It is great for us to be able to host these concerts here at Sidcot, and we look forward to the next one in July.
