Year 8 River Studies
The Year 8 Geographers have been studying rivers in readiness for their end of year exams. Students were set the task to work in pairs to produce their own information poster answering the questions: "How do rivers change downstream?" and "Why do rivers change downstream?"
They had access to a range of resources such as the internet and intranet (Firefly), textbooks and geographical articles (Geofile and Geo-Active). The resources available were classified into three groups: those that were aimed at Year 8 students, those that were aimed at GCSE students and finally, resources that were aimed at A Level students.
Year 8 completed some excellent work, some of it was so detailed and included very advanced geographical terminology. For example: Sarah Carr in 8RSM gave a very detailed account of river processes.
The students enjoyed the task as they were free to push themselves to a higher level without feeling too pressured. The end results clearly showed how much effort that the students put into this project.
